Ms. Aubra LaVonne Daniels

Ms. Aubra LaVonne Daniels was born on February 9, 1959, to the union of the late Owen J. Daniels and Ida M. Daniels in Durham, North Carolina. Aubra departed this walk of life on March 2, 2026, at Duke University Medical Center. Aubra was a proud graduate of Hillside High School class of 1977. In 1983, she obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration from North Carolina Central University (NCCU). Aubra was a 1985 recipient of the Outstanding Women of Achievement Award and a 1986 recipient of recognition as one of the Outstanding Young Women of America. Aubra was crowned Miss NCCU Alumni (1991-1992). She also held several certificates from the Institute of Financial Education in Mortgage Lending. Aubra joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated in 1991, Mu Omicron Omega Chapter in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and later became an active member of the Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter in Durham, North Carolina, serving on the Audit Committee and Finance Committee, and achieving the status of Silver Star, as a Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated for 35 years. She was a proud member of St. Joseph AME Church and dedicated her talents to the Inspirational Choir. Aubra began her professional career at Mutual Savings and Loan Association, where she built a strong foundation in financial/mortgage services and community engagement. She later continued her career in mortgage and banking with Travelers Mortgage Services, First Union Mortgage Corporation (Wachovia), Self-Help Credit Union, Mechanics and Farmers (M&F) and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, where she was known for her professionalism, dedication, and commitment to serving others. In a meaningful full-circle moment, she later returned to her alma mater, North Carolina Central University, where she proudly served and remained connected to the institution that helped shaped her early years. Through each stage of her career, she was respected for her work ethic, integrity, and the care she showed to colleagues and the community. Aubra was preceded in death by her father Mr. Owen J. Daniels, her brother Jeffery C. Daniels, paternal grandparents Mr. William T. Daniels and Mrs. Hattie L. Daniels, his maternal grandparents Mr. Clinton O. Locust Sr. and Mrs. Elnora H. Locust. To cherish her memory, Aubra leaves behind her mother Ida M. Daniels, her sisters, Juaneza D. Amos (Borden), Sonya E. Daniels, Sheree A. Daniels, one brother Kevin W. Daniels, nephews Joseph Jones and Kelvin Daniels Jr., nieces Abria Overby and Imani Chavis, great nephews Amiriz McLean and Elijah Mclean, great nieces, Ka’oir Odom and Aria McLean. Aubra also leaves behind two aunts, Elsie Hampton-Lee, and Ruby J. Page, one uncle, Clinton O. Locust, Jr., a host of loving cousins and many friends. The family will receive visitors at 1103 Golden Crest Drive, Durham, NC 27704. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at St. Joseph AME Church, 2521 Fayetteville Street, Durham, North Carolina 27707; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.-Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony at 11:00 a.m., Family Visitation and Public Viewing 11:30 a.m.; Homegoing Service at 12:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life Service will be streamed live via: -YouTube St Joseph AME Church -Facebook St Joseph AME Church Ms. Aubra LaVonne Daniels will be laid to rest in Glennview Memorial Park.
