Mrs. Annie Besther Jones Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Annie (Anne) Besther Jones, returned to heaven on April 09, 2021 at her home in Durham, NC. Her devotion to her family and her strong faith in God supported her through her illness and gave her peace. Anne was born to the late Elmo and Lula Pettiford Atkins, in Granville County, NC on October 25, 1936. She was also blessed with a loving stepfather, Johnny G. Bullock. She was immersed in the Baptist community from an early age and became a lifelong member of Synama Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Oxford, NC. She graduated from Hawley High School and went on to study at North Carolina College in Durham, NC. Anne soon after moved to New Jersey and in 1973 she landed a career at Young & Rubicam (Y&R). Anne loved her career and made many lifelong friends in her 26 years at Y&R. She continued to stay rooted in her Christian faith and joined Progressive Baptist Church in Rahway, NJ. In 1999, she retired and soon after moved back to Durham where she resided with her loving sister, Geraldine Scott. Anne was blessed with a large loving family and many friends. She loved to spend time with her friends and family and to travel. She played a pivotal role in the lives of all her nieces and nephews and treated them as if they were all her children. We will remember Anne as a beautiful person, who was always thoughtful and there to provide her love and support. She had a giving heart and knew how to make people feel special. Her style was impressive and she was always beautifully put together with a smile. Anne was preceded in death by her sisters Ceatrice and Elviolet and brothers James and Herbert. Anne is survived by her sister, Geraldine Scott; Nephews; James, Kevin Gregory, Michael, Mark, and Scotty; Nieces; Dollie, Michelle, Cassandra, Tracy, Seleka, and Nicole; their children and a host of loving family and friends.
