Mrs. Bessie E. Riley Cates, age 94, departed this life on Friday, August 26, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Willie D. Cates, Gregory V. Cates, Eric E. Cates, Alan B. Cates; daughter, Cassandra Faye Brown and sister, Arlene Gentry. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 3307 Dearborn Dr., Durham, NC 27704, beginning at 1:00 p.m. A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Scarborough and Hargett Memorial Chapel and Gardens, Inc.
