Mrs. Fannie A. Burnette

Condolences are being expressed to the family of Mrs. Fannie A. Burnette, age 94, who passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at her home. On the morning of Saturday, March 7, 2020, God plucked one of His special flowers. Fannie Ann Mitchell Burnette peacefully departed this life at home. She was born August 27, 1925, in Chatham County, to the late Bennie and Minnie Mitchell. Fannie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Burnette. Fannie accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church. She served several duties as Usher, Choir Member and she also worked in the soup kitchen. Fannie was employed at McPherson Ear, Nose and Throat doing what she loved (Cooking). She was also employed at Scarborough Nursery as a cook and classroom worker. Fannie later went to Durham Technical Community College and earned her high school diploma. Soon after she became a Certified Nursing Assistant, she was then employed with Durham Council for seniors. Fannie is preceded in death by her husband Willie Burnette, her sons, James Mitchell, Sr. and Willie Burnette, Jr., her daughters Wilda Burnette, Vanessa Burnette and Tawana Brothers. Fannie's beautiful memories will forever be cherished in the lives of her two daughters, Mary Smith and Gloria Shealey; three sons, Otis Burnette (Delois), David Burnette and Rickey Burnette; special friend, Jean Mebane, special great grandson, Anthony Burnette; and a host of extended family members and friends. A Service of Celebration has been scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Monroe Christian Center, 1701 Sherman Ave., Durham, North Carolina 27707. The family will assemble for a visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by the celebration service, at 2:00 respectively. Mrs. Fannie A. Burnette will be laid to rest in Glennview Memorial Park.
