Mrs. Margaret L. Mann

July 3, 1917 - April 16, 2017

Mrs. Margaret Louise Mann was born in Charlottesville, Virginia to the late Cornelia Cobb Hicks and John Hicks on July 3, 1936. She entered into rest on Sunday, April 16, 2017. She was the youngest of three sisters, who grew up in a home parented by her Aunt Mary Smith Forte who preceded her in death. Margaret was baptized at an early age in Charlottesville, VA. In Charlottesville, Margaret attended High School and participated in basketball and the marching band where she played clarinet. Margaret was known as “Gammie” to many family and friends. Gammie was known to many for preparing and sharing a variety of delicious meals. Margaret’s love of cooking often had her catering for schools, weddings and other social events. Margaret was known for her quick wit and her one line solutions to life’s challenges. Mrs. Mann is preceded in death by her parents and guardian. She is survived by her six daughters, Karen Woods Wilson and son in law Glenn Wilson of Philadelphia, PA, Gail W. Gadsden and son-in-law Geoffrey E. Gadsden of Durham, NC, Mary Mann of Durham, NC, Tina Mann of Philadelphia, PA, Yolanda Mann of Philadelphia, PA and Ebony Foushee and son-in-law Jeffrey Foushee of Durham, NC. She has eleven grandchildren. Edwina Woods, Gerald Woods (deceased) Geoffrey, Gabriel and Geneva Gadsden, Candace Cuffey, Eric Mann, David Shephard, Iesha Johnson, Tamia Golden and Isaac Foushee. She has eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all.
