Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bolling, age 89, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Carver Living Center. Mary Elizabeth Bolling, the daughter of the late Charlie E. and Lena Wade Roy, was born on March 26, 1932, in Franklin County, Virginia. Mary was educated in and graduated from the Franklin County School System. She furthered her education at New York Technical College. She was employed by Barclay's Bank in New York City until she retired. After retirement, she relocated to Durham, North Carolina in 1993 where she worked various part-time jobs including Sears and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Mary (Ma Bolling) gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia where she was an active and dedicated member. Upon relocating to New York City she joined the Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Jamaica, New York and continued in faithful service until she moved to Durham, North Carolina and united with First Calvary Baptist Church. At First Calvary, she was faithful and active member. She was a Trustee and also served on the First Aid and the Missionary Ministries until her health failed. She would travel to all the Lott Carey Conventions with her fellow sisters. Ma Bolling loved her Pastor and his wife, Pastor Frederick A. and Mrs. Judith Davis, to the very end. She loved all the choirs and their singing but the Male Choruses were always her favorite. Mary lived a full, happy and loving life. She was married to the late Edward W. Bolling. They enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Their travels included a trip to the Holy Land where they were baptized in the Jordan River. She traveled all over the world. Traveling became her favorite pass time other than loving and babysitting beautiful fat babies. Ma Bolling also enjoyed visiting family and friends. Ma Bolling was preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Bolling, three brothers; Charles Roy, George Roy and Norman Roy, and a special God sister, Bernice Robinson. Ma Bolling did not have any children of her own but was loved and cherished by those who knew her. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, one sister, Mercerlene Smith of Shelby, North Carolina; one aunt, Bertha Williamson of Brooklyn, New York (97 years old); two sisters-in-law, Marie Bolling and Lillie Roy; four special daughters, Maggie Jacobs, Lorraine McLarty, Brenda Carter and Marquita Jones; two special sons; Minister John Carter and Fred Jones. She also has a host of loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives and close friends as well as the Barclay's Bank Retirement friends.
