Mrs. Ruby Parker McClain

May 28, 1926 - December 13, 2018

Mrs. Ruby Parker McClain, daughter of the late Ross and Lizzie Parker was born May 28, 1926, in Franklin County, Louisburg, North Carolina. She transitioned from this earthly life at the family home, Durham, North Carolina, early Thursday morning, December 13, 2018. She was educated in the Durham County Schools system, graduating from Little River High School, Bahama, North Carolina. Ruby McClain was a faithful employee at the American Tobacco Company. In 1987, she retired with 32 years of service. Mrs. Ruby McClain was the mother of two children, Patricia Watson and Timothy R. McKinnon. In 1956 she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Chester McKinnon who preceded her in death. Years later she was married to Mr. Theodore McClain. Our beloved mother was a woman who truly loved people. She created the "Ruby's Help Club" with the mission to help those in need. She loved cooking and shared her God-given gift with others. At any time, "Ms. Ruby" had Patricia delivering food to people in the community. Reaching out to others always put a smile on her face. Those who knew mother felt her love and returned that same love to her. Ruby McClain's five siblings preceded her in death; one sister, Ruth Custis and four brothers; David Parker, Clifton Parker, Melvin Parker, and Ross Earl Parker. Her loving nephew, Leon Branch also preceded her in death. She was a noble, devoted and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her bright smile and loving ways will be missed by all. Ruby leaves to cherish her memories two children, Patricia P. Watson and Timothy R. McKinnon (Shawna); two grand-daughters, Morgan McKinnon and Taylor McKinnon; six nieces, Shirlene Parker, Kerry Parker, Wanda McIvy (James), Ruby Christmas, Margarie James, Delois Cullar; three nephews, Derek Parker, Eulis Parker (Phyllis), a dear cousin, Quinton Parker, a long-time friend, Lillie Myers, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 906 S Roxboro Street, Durham, N.C. 27707, with a family visitation one hour prior to the service.
