Ms. Vivian Luceo Parker
July 29, 1925 - May 10, 2020
The family of Ms. Vivian Luceo Parker, age 94, announces her passing which occurred on Sunday, May 10, 2020, at Duke Regional Hospital, 3643 N Roxboro Street, Durham, North Carolina 27704. She was the eighth of thirteen children born to the late Ulysses and Margaret Pettiford Parker. Vivian was preceded in death by her siblings: James Parker, Geraldine Parker, Goldsmith Parker, Virginia Kenion, Syminer Daye, Nathaniel Parker, Zonnie Hedgspeth, Ulysses (Burnice) Parker, Arnell Parker, Kermit (K.P.) Parker and Wilbur Parker. Vivian joined New Red Mountain Baptist Church at an early age and continued as a faithful member as her health allowed. She was a member of the Senior Choir, Senior Citizen Ministry and Missionary Circle. A seamstress by trade, her true love was her flower garden. As she helped in writing this obituary, she smiled and said "I love my flowers". For years you could see some of her flowers during the summer brightening the church sanctuary. She will always be known for her pot of salad greens, her scrumptious pound cakes, grated and sliced sweet potato pies. Vivian is survived by one sister, Margaret Parker Wingfield; one sister-in-law, Pauline Harris Parker; and a host of nieces and nephews. If we were to ask Vivian how she is doing now in her new home, we all know she would smile and say "I'll do". The family will hold a private graveside service at New Red Mountain Baptist Church cemetery where Ms. Vivian Luceo Parker will be laid to rest.
