Mrs. Mary M. McAdams

The family of Mrs. Mary M. McAdams, age 88, wishes to announce her passing on Friday, March 27, 2026, at her home. “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Mary Marie Flowers McAdams was born December 2, 1937, to Frank and Lucielle Flowers in Durham County. She departed this earthly life Friday, March 27, 2026, peacefully at her home. Mary was an active member at Union Baptist Church. In addition to her regular attendance, she served as a trustee. She received her education in Durham County Public Schools and graduated from Hillside High School, Class of 1956. She continued her education at Watts School of nursing in Durham NC, where she earned her license, in practical nursing. She was employed at UPS, and Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company and retired from North Carolina Mutual. Her happiest times were spent with her family. She took immense pride in being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed laughing, talking, and going to the Outer banks for Thanksgiving with her family. A lifelong enthusiast of the game, she was never happier than when cheering on her favorite teams. Whether it was a Saturday watching the Duke Blue Devils or a Sunday rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, her spirit, knowledge of the game, and team loyalty were unmatched. She was even able to see the Cowboys play in-person at the Panthers Stadium on multiple occasions. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert Louis McAdams. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Kathy McAdams of Durham, North Carolina; two sons, Byron McAdams and his wife Judice McAdams of Knightdale, NC; and Robert McAdams and his wife Toni McAdams of Fuquay NC; six grandchildren: Tameika Bass, Kortnee McAdams, Byron McAdams II, Larry Timberlake Jr, Travis Timberlake, and Shamane Carter; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of loving family and friends. Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary M. McAdams are scheduled for Tuesday, April 7th, at Union Baptist Church, 904 N Roxboro Street, Durham, North Carolina 27701; public viewing 11:30 a.m., service 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in Beechwood Cemetery. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
